Frigid...

{Hat: Borrowed ($0);  Coat: Banana Republic (Thrifted $40);  Shirt: F21 ($6);  Jeans: Levi's ($30);  Boots: Nine West ($50);  Sunnies: Walmart ($9);  Scarf: Claires ($9);  Gloves: Gifted Younkers}

I'm finally home after an epic 21.5 hour drive with my older brother and Adeline.  I am so thankful to be back around family and friends despite the insane frigidity of Iowa snow.  Chilled to the bone.  I wore this to an end of the world party at the Mill last night and definitely got some comments on the hat/long coat combo (Dr. Who, Boy George, Anne Hathaway!).  I love it, though!!  You guys have seen and will see this hat a lot this winter.
Happy holidays to you and yours!!!

Punky...

{Dress: Thrifted no brand ($8);  Shirt: Gifted no brand ($0);  Jacket: old F21 ($18);  Tights: Victoria's Secret;  Shoes: Nine West ($30)}

ERRMAHGERD.
It's getting close to Christmas again and I'm just so stupid excited to go home and spend the holiday with my entire family.  The three sibs (and Miss Adeline) haven't spent a Christmas together in Iowa in years so this time will mean so much to me.  My favorite Christmas tradition is assembling the Christmas tree just so (it must be perfect!) and the boys will be a great help in hanging the lights and various ornaments from our childhood.  OH BOY, OH JOY!
Um, that doesn't have much of anything to do with this outfit.  And idk what else to say about this one.  The title pretty much speaks for itself.  I was feeling punky and ran with it.

Score Pt. 1...

Oh, the joys of thrifting.  I found this brand spankin' new sweater, originally $288.00 for $2 at my local thrift store.  It doesn't get much better than that, eh?  These are the steals that make thrifting worthwhile and stupid fun.  At some point, I'll post some of the tips and tricks I've learned along the way because it's definitely taken me a while to master the art of thrift store shopping.
{Clement: $2.00}
{The Hawick Cashmere Company: $6.00}
{Calvin Klein: $14.00}
{Old Navy: $4.00}

Grandpa...

{Hat: Borrowed ($0);  Coat: Gap (thrifted $5);  Blazer: no brand (thrifted $5);  Shirt: Express ($24.50);  Chords: Levi's ($30);  Boots: Nine West ($30)}

I've been dressing like my grandpa a bit lately.  Blazers, button-ups and chords have been on repeat and somehow they make me feel smarter.  As my semester comes to a close, I'll be needing all of the smart energy I can get!!  SO MANY PAPERS DUE AHHH.
Anyway, we've had a few days of snow in Denver lately.  I love the change in weather and I especially love that the sun still shows up, keeping me motivated to stay productive and not sink into my sheets prematurely.
I've had a nice weekend.  I hope y'all did, too.

Put a scarf on it...

{Scarf: thrifted at Act II Consignment ($2.00);  Shirt: Thrifted at Buffalo Exchange ($6.00)}

PUT A BIRD SCARF ON IT!!!
This was taken on one of the days my mom was in town.
I had a lovely time with her and can't wait to see her and the rest of my fam (hopefully) for Thanksgiving.
I also can't wait to share Halloween photos!!!
Last night was a doozy.
Cheerio.

Turtle!!

{Turtleneck: Ralph Lauren thrifted ($2);  Shirt: F21 ($4);  Chords: Levi's ($30);  Shoes: Doc Martins thrifted($4)}

TURTLENECK SHA-BOOO-YAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
You guys, it's the little things.  I found this Ralph Lauren Cropped (or super shrunk?) Turtleneck for $2.00 at Goodwill.  It's beautiful.  And I tell you what, my neck stays warm.
I really can't say enough about thrifting and sale shopping.  Not only do I save boatloads of money, but the accumulating and then piecing together of an outfit from two-ish years of thrift/sale finds is so satisfying, so meant to be.
If you're not in on thrifting yet, get after it.  Iowa City folks, get to REVIVAL.  Denver folks, Goodwill on Broadway or that one place on Colfax and Lafayette.  Everyone else, Buffalo is an obvious go-to.
I hope y'all are doing well.  I just started club volleyball at UCD and I'm feeling a bit giddy from the physical exercise.  Bump, Set, Spike!  Just like high school.
Goodnight.

October...

[Scarf&Sweater: F21;  Shirt: Gap (Thrifted);  Jeans: F21;  Shoes: Nine West]

I love October.  I love the build-up to Halloween and the scattered leaves beneath my feet.  I love drinking apple cider and wrapping myself in the coziest of scarves every day.  I love coming home to homemade soup or chili in the crockpot.  Although the days get shorter and the nights a bit more brisk, October has always been my favorite month of the year.

Comfy...

[Shirt, Scarf and Floral Skirt: F21 (I know, shame on me!);  Leggings: Kmart;  Best Socks Ever: Nine West]

I've been trying to be more of a free spirit when I dress lately.  It can be a bit too tempting for me to fall into genre-dressing; so, I've made an effort to break free of my typical grunge, 90's, western, equestrian, lumberjack and prepster looks.  I wore this for a little pumpkin carving party my roommates threw.
I was so comfy I bailed on the party and went to bed.  HA!
The end.

On the dot...

[Coat: Banana Republic;  Sweater: Thrifted ($2.50!!);  Pants&Scarf&Shoes: F21]

I have a lot of different theories regarding the importance of dressing in an intentional and playful manner.  Choosing specific clothing items not only informs your mood and the tone of your day, but it also feeds the creative side your soul.  YOUR SOUL!!
Anyway, I have a million things to say on the subject of getting dressed, but! its 2am and I'm ready for sleep.
Hope you had a lovely Friday night!  I went to the movie, "Sleepwalk With Me," and then had a couple of much needed drinks with Dan.

Golden...

[Sweater: Max Mara (thrifted);  Scarf: Target;  Jeans: F21;  Leather backpack: Thrifted!!]

Today was a fine day.
I've been hangin round some fab people lately and they have really lifted my spirits.
Ned, Spencer, Stuart, Morgan, Kyle, Swathi, and more.
I'm trying to incorporate more human interactions into my work/school/robot life and it has proved to be most beneficial.
Let's see, what else?  Despite the trials of work, the cash flow has allowed me to do a little shopping!!
This Max Mara sweater was a total steal at $5.00 and when I found the leather backpack below, I could have sung to the fashion gods.  $10.00.  Goodwill is the ish!!  I'll be sharing more of my thriftylicious finds soon.

Long lost...

[Shirt and sweater: Gap (thrifted);  Jeans: F21;  Scarf: Iowa City somewheres;  Cup: High school senior graduation present;  Rings: Denver Gems&Mineral Show!!!]

Howdy from your long lost blogger friend!  I swear that despite my wild and crazy school/work schedule, I still find time to put on clothes.  Sometimes even outfits.  Sometimes they're even cute outfits!!
I like this one okay.
Is anyone else stoked that it's FALL!?
This is my favorite season for fashion so hopefully I'll check into this bloggy a little more often.
Take er easy.

I long for the layering of autumn.

Lumber...

[Shirt: Thrifted/Gifted;  Shorts: DIY American Eagle;  Boots: Doc Martins (Thrifted);  Sunnies: H&M;  Armadillo Art: Found at house]

LUMBER-JACKIN' IT!!!!!!!!!!
Today was my third day of school.
Twas glorious.
Hope y'all are having a lovely end to your summer!  I received the giant, phone book-sized Vogue and Harper's Bazaar magazines the other day and I'm now SOSOSOSOSOSOOO ready for fall fashion.  As per usual with fashion mags, I'll just now have to wait until the weather catches up.

80's Prom...

Climber...

 [Shirt: American Eagle;  Shorts: Kmart?  Harness: Black Diamond;  Hat: Gas station in Nebraska;  Sunnies: F21]

HA!
This is a weird "fashion" post.  There really isn't much thought that goes into workout clothes.  For climbing, as long as your shorts are long enough underneath your harness, you're good to go.  I can tell you that this sunhat was absolutely necessary as it was 90+ degrees with not a cloud in the sky.
I had the best time today.  I haven't been outside climbing in a year-ish and I jumped right into leading (on my first climb!!), which although scary, was quite rewarding at the finish.
WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Dot...

 [Dress: Thrifted;  Shoes: Zara]

I have to say, this might be my favorite post yet.
This dress is special to me not only because I found it buried in a thrift store, but also because I wore it to the Kentucky Derby in 2010.  It's probably one of the classiest numbers I own!  The shoes have their own story, too, of course.  I spotted them in Paris and knew they must immediately be mine.
The neon.  The suede.  The platform.
GIMME GIMME GIMME.
I love mixing an older piece, like this dress, with modern, in-your-face shoes.  It keeps things fresh, ya know?
Anyway, this is another post brought to you from my new house.  Above is a peak into our living room and below is the "OFFICIAL" throw line for darts.
I feel so lucky to have found this place.
Yesterday, we watched the Curiosity Rover land on Mars.
CRAY CRAY.

Olympics...

 [High/Low Shirt: Thrifted Michael Stars;  Blue Jeans: Thrifted Levi's;  Shoes: Nine West]

Sooooooo, I don't know about you guys, but I've been watching the Olympics like it's my job.  The athletes are hot, the stories are inspiring and some of the sports are just weird.  I mean, since when is trampolining a sport??  I LOVE IT!
I didn't realize it when I put together this outfit, but my clothing is currently reflecting my Olympics obsession.  The stripes are a given.  When am I not wearing stripes?  But the rest of the outfit--the colors and the high/low or "mullet" hemline--screams AMERICUHHHHHH!
U.S.A. all the way.
I hope you're having a lovely day!!

P.S. THIS IS MY NEW HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mail...

[Tank, Shirt & Sunnies: F21;  Shoes: Nine West]

Oh, ya know, just waitin' for the mailman to arrive!!
But for real.  Sorry for the lag in blogging.  I always have so many ideas for this blog but never seem to be able to squeeze in as many photoshoots as I would like.  And then when I do find the time, I wear something weird like this gettup.  Oh well.
All my Iowa City pals will recognize these boots as I've been wearing them constantly.  I wear them to the gym, I wear them out, to the beach and pool, etc etc etc.  They are just too snazzy.
My brother's birthday is today.  Other than sending him well wishes, my only plan for the day is climbing with my boo, Ellen.
Hope you're having a fab Monday!!

Stripes...

[Shirt: Gap (Thrifted);  Jeans: Levi's;  Bling-Bling: Thrifted]

When Ellen, Amy and I went shopping the other day I found three shirts I HAD to have and go figure, they all have stripes.  This is one of those three and it was only $6.00!!!
I love the thrift stores in Iowa City.  In fact, I love almost everything about Iowa City.
Although I said I would never move back, I'm beginning to consider grad school in my little hometown.
YIKES!  I'll keep you posted.
[Shoes: Nine West (Go figure)]

Peek...

[Blue jeans: Levi's;  Shoes: Nine West;  Bag: Longchamp c/o Eva;  Flowers: My dad's]

This is less of a sneak peek and more of a photog-fail as I didn't photog the rest of my outfit.  Snaps.
But I can tell you that it was monochromatic with blue separates and neutral accessories.
Anywhoo.
I had the perfect night tonight.  I went thrifting with new gal-pals, Ellen and Amy, and then climbed at the Rec Center and CRUSHED.  Maybe not crushed, but Ellen and I found the best routes for the next couple of climbing sessions!!!
OKAY BYE!

Cowgal...

[Sundress & Boots: Thrifted;  Blouse: Calvin Klein c/o Eva]

It's been a bit of an adventure taking outfit pictures on my own.  I still love capturing and documenting random outfits, though, so I will continue to persevere.
I wore this to the pub quiz at Deadwood yesterday and received many a positive review on my cowgal boots.  Gotta love em!!
Hope you're having a lovely Wednesday!

AMERICAH!!!!!

Got decked out in my red, white and blue tini-bikini and enjoyed the hot day at Lake McBride in Iowa City.
AMERICAH!
HAPPY 4TH TO ERRBODY!!!

Beat it...

[Tank: Thrifted (American Eagle);  Shorts: Pimkie;  Shoes: Nine West]

BEAT THE HEAT, that is.  Heh heh.
But let's get serious: there is no possible way for anyone to beat the heat this summer.
It's swampy as heck in Iowa City but I'm doing my best to embrace the weather and in doing so, have adapted my wardrobe accordingly.  Light fabrics with plenty of breathing room have kept me from dying of heatstroke while bright colors and accessories have kept me feeling at least somewhat stylish.
Despite the heat, I've had an enjoyable couple of days.
I went to a few Jazzfest events this weekend and climbed with two new friends, Ellen and Rohith.
Today I swam at Lake McBride and tomorrow will be spent with Andy and friends at his CABIN!!!!!  So pumped.

Hope y'all had a lovely 4th of July!!
